Help! How do I remove frt/rear door panels?

I want to know if I would need a special tool for removing the front and rear door panels to switch out the speakers. Unfortunately, the manual for our 4th generation SUV has not been released from Chilton yet. I saw a thread somewhere stating that a special tool was needed to prevent damage to the plastic snap studs on the back of the panel. Is this true or can I use a flat head screwdriver and go SLOW to remove the panels? I would appreciate also if someone with the actual manual would scan the pages and post them for me. Thanks a bunch.

Also, I would like to know if the door speaker connecters are a sealed switched. If so, then I could just splice the wires to add two more rear speaker connectors to convert my 6 spker system to an 8 spkr system. Anyone with the knowledge of what color the door speaker wires are (neg and pos) would help me in this category.

I have one of those tools, but rarely use it. Just place your hand under the door panel, around each clip as you pull it out. Be careful not to lose any of the rubber rings or you will have rattles.

What kind of speakers are you trying to add? Just tapping a wire will change the impedance and is not a good idea if tweeters are involved. If you are trying to create component speakers, buy a set of component speakers with included crossovers.

I have a .pdf that I downloaded. It mentions the clip remover tool.

I have yet to do this on my 4Runner. Can you take some disassembly pictures? I haven't come across any on this site.

Where did you copy the link from? I think it was the abbreviated version.
Anyways, if you look at it, removing the panels are pretty self explanatory...Remove the screw behind the door puller, the screw behind the door handle, pull out all of the clips -there is always a starting point at one of the door edges where there is a small gap to allow you to stick a tool in to pry. Just wrap something flat (if you don't have all the tools) with electric tape and pry up the corner. Remove all the clips with your hands, undo the clips for power windows, etc. Pull out the door handle and lock cables. Completely remove the upper panel by pulling up.

Sounds complicated, but only takes two minutes.

the front door panel was not hard to remove at all. i did it with just a screw driver, no special plastic remover. just go slow and don't try to yank it out. it takes 2 minutes.

Mr. Cleric,
I am trying to accomplish adding two more seperate speakers/boxes to the rear cargo area by tapping into the rear door speakers of my factory 6-spkr system. I just want some more added sound coming from the rear area. Whenever the back seats are folded down, it pratically wipes out the sound coming from the rear door speakers. I purchased two simple spkr boxes with the speakers already built in (cheap ones) just for some added sound. I don't want the glass rattling sound from expensive systems. I would like natural sound from speaker boxes that I could remove if I needed the extra rear cargo space. I wish I could find the factory speaker harness wire (if it exists) that is used for the 8 or 10 speaker subwoofer system. That would be great as I could just tap it for the rear compartment speakers.

Hi, new here. I just purchased an '07 SR5 4x4 last week.
Anyway, I have the stock stereo and am going to upgrade. I have learned a ton by reading threads on this forum. I have already purchased a scion HU and some Infinity coax speakers. I am not installing an amp or sub at this time. I have the link for taking apart the dash, but I need a link for taking off the door panels. It seems the link, like the one in this thread, that everyone has been using no longer works. Does anybody have an updated link?
