I have removed the three bolts up top, i have removed the lower control arm, the shock is just hanging but will not come loose from the top. I have beat and beat with a hammer, pryed as much as i could with a pry bar. Sprayed with liquid wrench. I am out of ideas other than possibly torch which I dont have torches. Any tricks?

Huh, that's really weird... I know they get stuck, but the prybar or hammer should have released it.
Can you provide a picture and what size pry bar you're using?

Yes, that is really strange it is being so stuborn.
Mine came right out, no problem.
Once you disconnect the bottom bolt, the top 3 bolts and lower the LCA, there can't be anything holding it except rusted to the upper strut housing.
+1 on continuing to hammer away. I would try to hammer on each of the 3 top bolts individually trying to get it to breat away. Maybe a 2x4 on top of the stud to reduce damage to the stud end.
Good luck man, it's a bummer when you run into stuff that should be the easy part.

The truck really has no rust to speak of so it was very strange. After 2 hours of beating and spraying pb blaster and liquid wrench, it FINALLY came out. My hands are so sore from all the beating. I went to the other side HOPING I would not have the same issue but I wouldnt be so lucky. I went to the store, bought a sledge hammer and started beating the crap out of it and it came out in like 20 minutes.
I finally finished the lift. I was totally defeated at one point. Toyotec built my coils wrong, I had to drive out there and have them redo them, then I ran into that nightmare. Slee offroad quoted me 300.00 just to put the front in even though they were already built which motivated me to keep on beating!

. One thing i noticed with old stuff especially suspension stuff...it just takes some hours with a big hammer...and many swear words and it'll eventually come...just don't give up. Glad to hear you got it!

I had the same problem on my decently rusty 03. Sledge hammer, liquid wrench, PB blaster and 2 days of soaking and beating. Found hitting the top of the bolts sticking through the plate finally got it out, or it was just finally loose. Congrats on gettin er done man.

Glad you got it man, feels good to push on through and save yourself some bucks. I've been exhausted at points, but these guys always talk me through it. And as you can see, even when you pay for work to be done you never know if its done correctly. This way you know you did it right. Good job!
