So...I broke my remote to my 4Runner. Already have locked Lucy my black lab in the Car :-( so i really need to replace it

The ToyoTechs said it would be like 150.

I saw online that I could buy them around 50 & program it myself but not sure which ones to buy the techs said it was hard to match them online...I had no idea there were so many?!?

Any suggestions? Help?

Thanks!

And I didn't know you guys were out here! I wish I would have known when I had my old 4Runner, which i horribly miss :-(

You got more than one with the vehicle? If so just get one to match the FCC radio transmitter # on the back. What year is your RNR? An '03 would take HYQ12BAN. They run $12-25 used on ebay.

Thanks!!

It's an 04... I still have the remote but its just not connected to a key chain and I will loose it.

I will check & see if I can find the FCC number on the back of it when i go home.

Is the programming hard?

Programming is rather Rube Goldberg as it has you inserting key x # times and opening and closing door to program -- all has to be done withing X # of seconds. You do get confirming click and beeps. Sure not worth paying the dealer $80 to do it. Think you can program up to 4 or 5 remotes for vehicle --- but you have to do them all in same session. Remotes for other yotas will work if the FCC# is same -- but they may not have button or symbol for the rear window. I got instructions either here or with a Google search - if you can't find I can provide. I'm sure 04 is same as 03 (suspect remote is too).

Here's link to programming - the response with te attachment:
