help.. lift install questions..

ok so it has been months i have had the daystar 2.5inch lift sitting in my closet.. and i am starting to just get pissed.. i wanted to do it myself but then i got scared because of the independent rear suspension.. also i dont have a air compressor to compress the springs with a spring compressor.. so i dont no where to get it done.. i dont want to spend a outrageous amount of money.. do u guys think regular suspension shops could do it? where did u get ure lift done? i would like to do it myself but i dont want to get to the point where im like shit i cant do this and go to put everything back together and i cant..

help.... also what do u think the installation cost is going to be?

its really not that hard to do, but if you are unsure and don't have the tools, might be better to pay someone.

i am in maryland.. what tools do i need?.. i have done coilovers on my vw R32 but i had a problem when doing the rear.. i couldnt get the shock back on due to pressure and such..

i found instructions but it only talked about the rears.. and it wasnt very detailed...

the 4Runner doesn't have independent rear suspension, it's the front that's independant, but like Stick Figure said, if you're not sure you can complete it, it's best to have someone do it for you. Before starting any job you should know everything it entails and how to go about the job. If you're unsure on any of this, it's best to find someone who is sure.

i'd imagine the labor hours would still be the same since they still have to disassemble the front strut to either add new coils or to add the spacer and extended bolts.

you should call around local shops in your areas to get pricing. my guess, on the high side, would be $85/hr x 2-3 hours. ask around and tell them you have a limited budget... you may be able to find a mechanic or mechanic helper to do it as a side job.

the installation is not hard but you do need to have the right tools and i would recommend a partner to help you especially when installing the front strut assembly.

hmm... well then.. if the rear isnt independent than i might just do it myself.. see i have a R32 and i have done coilovers on that.. the problem i had was getting the new shock back in after dropping the old one out.. but i guess in this case it doesnt really matter cause its not like i have no shocks anyway..

also how do u compress the upper A arm.. in the directions it doesnt really explain that part.. thats the only part i am confused about..



also do u need to do both sides at the same time.. for the rear and front.. or no? it just needs to be jacked up both sides with jack stands and then u can work on each side individualy
