Help! Light Racing SPC Control Arm Overhaul Help!!

So I had dropped my truck off at a shop(mainly work on Land Rovers) to replace my wheel bearings. I've been hearing this bad humming noise for quite a while now. I know it's not the sound of my tires. They had gotten in touch with me to inform me that my bearings may be fine but my upper control arms are extremely worn. When talking with them I found out that they thought my UCA's were stock. I had to tell them that no, they are aftermarket and most of my suspension is aftermarket. They are now telling me that I should find the items to rebuild them. I really didn't think that the UCA's are the cause of the sound I'm hearing which I thought were more of a wheel bearing issue. This cost quote for this is almost $1400.00. This seems like a dick up the ass. What do you guys think? Please help!

Sounds like the shop don't know sh!t about aftermarket setup toys. They didn't look to see.

There's a different sound between clunks, and grinding. Find a different shop, not much that can go out on them UCAS.

Is the $1400 just for rebuilding the ucas??? If so, I'd find a new shop, Toytec has them new for $450, I think I paid 1 hour of labor when I had mine installed.

A dick in the ass is right. Does the 1400 cover rebuilding the UCAs, and replacing the wheel bearings?

Personally I would get another opinion from another shop, preferably someone familiar with Toyota's

For 1400 I'd hope he'd at least buy you dinner before giving you a dick in the ass :naughty:

I know that [MENTION=72341]NJshadow93[/MENTION] and I changed out one of his UCA's in like 30 mins in a driveway with hand tools.

Thanks guys. I'm just going to pick up my truck and bring it to my normal guy who helps me work on it. I really can't believe they thought everything was stock, even when I had told the guy everything that I had done to it a couple weeks before.

Do you know if the bushings in the LR UCAs are the new spec ride version? I think wheeler's offroad carries the replacement bushings and also replacement ball joints in case you need to find the parts to refurbish yours with. But if I'm understanding you correctly, they are only a few weeks old? So I guess maybe they are just full of it

I had called SPC and talked with Jeff. I told him my deal and how I've been running them for just over a year and they are completely shot. My whole suspension/wheel assembly has an inch or slightly more of play in it. The mechanic could move it back and forth. Jeff from SPC told me that they now have changed the bushing material to the new spec ride bushings. He is shipping me the new bushing kit free of charge. Hopefully this will cure a lot of the concerns I'm having and be done in time for Raush Creek next weekend.

Oh okay I misunderstood, I guess the shop was not screwing with you, besides on the price.
