Help Me Choose Rims

So one of the last items I have on my list is new rims and tires. I'm hoping my parents will get me new tires fairly soon, so that means I need to hurry up and find some new rims.

At this point I'm highly considering the 5 star OEM rims. I found a set for $250 and that seems RELLY good.

Other than that I thought about the Ivan Stewards or the Sequoia rims, but they are too expensive.

I honestly need to keep it under $500, but would like to go as cheap as possible.

I'm really hoping new rims will tie my 4runner together. I'm not sure what color rim would look best. If I got those 5 star rims I would have enough money to probably get them powder coated. If not then I could always spray them myself.

Any help would be highly appricated.

How much is powder coating? In my area, powdercoating is typically $50-$75 per wheel. Do you have any large aftermarket wheel retailers in your neck of the woods? Lots of times people just leave their old rims there and the business will sell them for cheap. I would try and look at places that sell those bling bling chrome 22s as lots of trucks will leave their rims behind.

Sure. We have a Discount Tire and plenty of "big" rim stores.

If powder coating was that much I'd still come out under $500. I need to call around and make sure people do it around my area.

Check craigslist, locally I have seen rims(oem and sequoia) for your price range.
P.S. I still think the 17" tundra/sequoia rim looks sweet!

i like those rims in black, they look really sweet. but buying 17s means buying bigger tires.

I like those rims too! The only problem is that they sit sunken in more due to the different back spacing than stock rims.:(

Would I have to use spacers? or can I put them on?

I check Craigslist everyday and it is extremely to see any 4runner part for sale or even a 4runner for that matter.

The Sequoia rims are out of the question. Like Sloan said I would have to get bigger tires, which are even more expensive.

JC is right about the offset too. I would have to run wheel spacers with the Sequoia rims and even the Tacoma TRD rims. That's another $200.

those silver trd fj wheels would look good. it seems like their easier to get a hold of then the other colors. the IS wheels would look Bad a$$ too. but i think IMO with your runner a lighter color rim would the best. procomps wheels are pretty cheap, they have the ones im rollen in in silver i bealieve. dang i wish i had my rim magazine with me!
id bust out all kinds of wheels!

Lol. That might be helpful.

What about painting the 5 stars a color similar to the "Anthricite" FJ rims?

Lol at the censorship. I'll take a look at those. I'm probably going to go to Discount Tire tomorrow or Thursday to see what they have.

ya i like the 1st ones those are pretty sick! i never even seen those before. With the 5 spoke you were talking about earlier are they the sr5 sport rims?

Yeah. Gotta make a decision within a week. The guy is coming up here on a trip and is willing to bring them.

If I got those I would either leave them the stock color, powder coat, or just spray them.

Hmm, not the biggest fan of the second set you posted. First ones are alright. But it's all personal preference. For me, I'm not really big on rims, I dunno. Like, I'm fine with the basic stock ones I have. I do like the SR5 sport rims though.

ya i like the look of different toyota rims on other toyotas if that makes any sence?? I think if you went with the darker color like the anthricite maybe a little metalic shine would bring out your chrome. I really depends in the look your going for though too haha.

Yeah. I'm not really sure what color I want to go with. I saw a Desert Dune with black rims and it look pretty good. I'm sure a dark aluminum silverish color would look good too. Does Duplicolor have a good selection?
