Help me decide. I need some ideas!

So as many of you know I’m trying to ditch the itty bitty armor and get the good stuff. Before I start selling more kidneys and other body parts, I want to sell my brush guard and nerf bars so I can have some playing around money. The nerf bars are no issue, but the brush guard is where I’m stuck on what to do.

I have these PIAA lights that I really don’t want to get rid of, and I don’t want to drill them into the bumper cause 1, they are too small and it would look lame IMO. I’m not sure if I have the skill Fightman and some of you have to cut up the lower valiance and make them look good. Maybe i do, if you talk me into it. But Lets hear some ideas!

My next purchase is gonna be some sliders. When I can get this all figured out, I will make an official classifieds for these. but for now, if your interested in buying these things PM me. As long as I get enough to replace it all with some sliders I'm good It's the full brush guard and the nerf bars are in great condition.

I vote for the lower valence idea. Looks like they are a good size to mount in the unpainted section.
 
IMO selling the nerf for real ones is a good idea. but some protection on the front is better than nothing. im selling mine after i get a full replace bumper. and those lights look funny on real bumpers, your right too small.
 
I can't think of anything that's less difficult then the valence option.
You could try to mount them in the grill...they might look goofy there though, and might be more challenging then the valence.
 
Honestly man, the valance mod I did wasn't that hard to do. It was a little labour intensive, but pretty simple to undertake.

I think the PIAA'S would look good in the valance.... my 2 cents. :)

Those piaas would fit nicely in the valance - maybe even behind the grill. Take your time and I'd be willing to bet you'd have it done nicely.
 
thanks for the motivation guys! I think i'm gonna attempt the lower valence.

What do you guys think about replacing the lower valence with some mesh material? (i would prob do the grill too) but if i can find something similar to the older IS300 grill Material or something similar to the Ivan Stewart grill i think it would look pretty good no??

I'm somewhat afraid of damaging the OEM valence. Fightman, i cant remember. Did you buy a 2nd valence for yours?

Thorrider Im in the same boat man, I'll be replacing it with a bumper eventually and these PIAA's will fit real nice in the holes. For now I gotta keep them, and i'm over the brush guard. It is kinda nice to have this thing in parking lots where people cant park. But I need some change!

I kept mine stock with no mesh in the bottom valance as I found it made it easier to work with.

As for the OEM valance, you just have to bite the bullet! I had the "HOLY CRAP....WHAT DID I JUST DO" moment when I took my jigsaw to the lower valance, but with persistence, it came out alright. I did not buy a new lower valance, only a new bumper (the old one was smashed on a trail run). But had already done my driving light mod prior to the accident. I just re-enforced it with epoxy and mesh, to make it stronger.

Its funny I just posted about the same thing a few days ago. I just ordered some hella micro de's to install on my 98, which obviously doesnt have fog light spots. So Im gonna put them in the valance as well. Just cant decide exactly where.

By the way I think your truck looks awesome, even with the "fake" armor. It kinda breaks the mold in a lot of ways
 
so no mesh? I for sure dont what it to look ghetto or riced. it will be black.

thanks buddy! I'm gonna be using your thread reference when i do this. My PIAA's have that nice guard that can hide any bad cuts i think... It's all in my head now it never comes out the same way haha!

thanks man i really appreciate it. It's this forum that makes me want all this stuff and right now I don't hate the way the push bar looks, i just really really want a set of sliders haha. I was just looking at your thread too. i dont think you'll have to do much cutting with the micro de's but good luck man hopefully both of our projects turn out good

I personally would like to see someone mold some 4" lights in the factory fog spot ... kinda rally car style (EVO 5 or WRX type)
 
I think you cant really go wrong with in the valence or in the grill. Both look great imo. Mesh or no mesh as well. My vote is to see how you like it in the lower valence, and if your not super happy about it, then cut more and use mesh. I think both would look great.
 
thanks again guys. Gosh i hate/love it when i get an idea and it ends up the only thing i can think of. True 4runner fanatic right here!

Stick Figure, i too think that would look pretty cool, I don't know if I wanna be the genie pig though. That means cutting into the metal, i'd probably break something important.

thanks for the confirmation Zach, Im still trying to decide if i want to cut into the valence. If i have time this weekend. i'll me removing the brush guard, and checking out everything. I would like to find some plastic grill material like this to throw in there

what do you guys think? I eventually want to do the satoshi on the grill too but that means buying a new grill to play with... Do you think it would look tacky to have the mesh on the bottom and the grill normal?
 
i have been thinking about doing the mesh grille mod *dont know how to spell it* either the regular way or where its more behind it, if you get that, and putting a set of lights in them, those little lights would work good there and would be protected and hid too.
 
yeah, if i do the mesh Im not sure if i want them behind or not. Im thinking they would look pretty sick if i cut into the mesh and have them integrated into the valence.
