Help me decide - Michelin LTX MS/2 vs Latitude Tour

Vehicle: '10 SR5 4X4
Current: Dunlops
Driving: DD, never off road, comb. city/hwy.
Cost: Not an issue.
Weather: Illinois, fair amount of snow Dec-Mar, only occasionally serious, live in city.

* So much has been written here about the MS/2, and little on the Latititude. I suspect more because of the driving nature of most on this forum.

I lean slightly towards the Latitude because I'm not sure I NEED the MS/2, but I'm curious of any winter driving experiences with the Latitude - or any other opinions you might have.

TIA for your thoughts.

EDIT: Prefer to keep it Michelin, as this is the only guy I've found who'll trade-in my Dunlops.

Glad to see someone is giving you something for the Doneflops. My tire guy literally laughed when I made the suggestion.

Also glad to see you pick Mich (I'm a fan) but hopefully for more reasons than the trade in.
The LTX MS^2 is marketed as a SUV/Crossover/Light Truck tire whereas the Latitude (which replaced the Cross Terrain) is marketed as a SUV/Crossover. The MS is the latest version of a very durable design that the industry sees as meant more for a "work" truck (pickup/van) application but also works very well on a SUV. The Lat is the latest design meant for a comfortable (passenger) application. More a highway cruiser. These are generalities but they are interchangeable. Both will work great so look at your application. I would go with the MS if you didn't have a second set for snow. I'll more than likely get the Lat myself when the CT's wear out because I have a set of BFG for winter.
As you say, not much on this forum about the Latitude because of the crowd but also because it's so new.

Thanks for your comments kmvreter - I was beginning to wonder if I'd get any. I originally set out for 1) a higher quality tire, 2) a *little* more aggressive (for winter) tire. With that, I was looking at MS/2 and Revo2.

I too, got rejected by every dealer I tried for a trade on the Dunlops, except one Michelin store. He sold me the MS/2's for $158 ea, after trade and a M. rebate, + lifetime free rotation. He's the one who introduced the Latitude to me, hence my original question.

Eventually, I reasoned the Latitudes satified (1) but not (2), and the Revos were more $ and likely more aggressive that I wanted/needed for a DD. So, the M/S2's go on this afternoon. Tks again.

I would think you'll be happy with the M/S2's. When looking for my current Toyo H/T's I studied the Latitudes and M/S2's. The M/S2's seem to get the nod of approval. When reading about the Latitude on tirerack and others I had no choice but to believe Michelin blew it. There doesn't seem to be as much "love" for the Latitude as there was for the CT or the M/S2.

Michelin did away with the Pilot series of tire in the SUV sizes about the same time they got rid of most of the CT sizes. I'm not sure if Mich blew it but the Lat isn't marketed at the same crowd. They push it for the comfy & "eco" riding Crossover. Unless something changes, I'm planning on Latitudes in the future. I have the BFG A/Tko for when the "truck" needs it.
