Help me figure out where this spring goes!

So i found this spring on my floor mat. I think it goes to part of the cup holder. The bottom part of my cup holder freely hangs and I don't remember it doing that. But i cant figure out where this little guy goes. Help him find his home!

not sure the cup holder style you have but I had a 2001 highlander with the flip out rear cup holder and it had the same tension spring, you'll see two nubs that hold it in place
