Help me ID these headers

Long story but...my Son and I started removing the motor from the 4runner we bought with a reportedly seized motor. I never looked it over because it was bought when I was out of the country and we had no intention of using anything from the airbox to the rear axle out of it. All that is being swapped from a low mile 99 that met and untimely demise.

Anyway, we finally get ready to pull the motor and we see these headers are on the motor. Any idea who made them?? We are going to need new exhaust gaskets if we are going to swap them on the motor from the 99.

Cant tell but they shouldnt be corroded like that. Could be that cheap brand that gets bad reviews, cant think of the name right now. Doug Thorley & TRD headers have the logo stamped on them. My DT's are ceramic coated & still look great.

Thanks....wouldn't surprise me. Everything on this '98 was done 1/2 azzed at best. We really only need it for the body and frame so anything we can pick off it is a bonus.

Assuming these are not of the best quality - still worth running them? I only want to have this motor out once so if we put them on, they aren't coming off any time soon

I do not know form experience, but I have read 1) that they are only a bonus if you are supercharged 2) some brands make the starter a nightmare to get off
If both of those cases are true, I would not bother with them and go stock

Well...they are definitely OBX headers.

since the motor is out and the kid is hoping to put a super on this at some point down the road, he is insistent on putting them back on. Since the motor is out - along with everything else - we ordered up a new set of gaskets from SCE and we'll run 'em. He has a Borla exhaust as well so this ought to be ready for a charger should he opt for one later.

I guess since we now have a ton of experience pulling the motor on these, if they don't work out, he can always pull it and put the stockers back on. I can't imagine trying to install these - or any headers for that matter - with the motor in the vehicle.

If you are going to use them, i would send them out to be ceramic coated.

Stock exhaust manifolds are not ceramic and last just fine. I think you'll be good with it as is, might as well leave them on since you went through the trouble to pull the engine.

Kind of what we thought....although, we are doing a motor swap so we already had the good motor out on the stand. The blown motor from the donor frame/body had the headers on it so we'll just keep them.

Really helps keeping the heat down, not just for the rust.
