So it was bought, sold to the current owner, now looking to sell it himself.....hmmmmm? Being the 3rd owner of a 10' vehicle would make me a little nervous. I guess it could have been a demo for #1 (reason to stay away from it alone lol)

It has a transferable 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. And the guy is asking $29,000

Bear in mind when the 2010s first came out there were few price breaks on them initially as a new model - I suspect whoever bought this originally paid top dollar - take a look round here and I think you will find folks are picking up a new 2011 SR5 for not a lot more than 29k and many have got a good deal on the warranty. A lot depends on where you are in the country as well - some are reporting a strong used market and others are seeing depressed prices with recent gas price hikes.

I wouldn't pay that much for a 5th gen that has gone through two owners and has over 20k miles on it.

Spend the extra 1-2k, buy new and get a nice financing offer and the peace of mind knowing that nobody else has driven your car. $29k is way too high.
I was wanting to pay $25,000. If I bought it for $25, that would be a around $10000 savings right?

If you search this forum for 2010 deals that folks were getting in the Jan / Feb time frame, I think you'll see that folks were paying about $30K for an SR5 when dealers were trying to clear the lot. I maybe remembering wrong - so don't take my my word. If it's got 20K miles on it, I'd expect them to come down a pretty good amount.

Quick search shows that some folks were paying as low as $32K for a brand new one.

Compare that exact truck to a new 2011 SR5 and see if it's really $10K in savings for 20K miles (and the worry about being the 3rd owner).

The warranty is only about $1K value - also a topic you can find a lot of info on here.

Don't do it... you could get into a new 2011 SR5 with a Convenience package (some nice options) for 31. Go to your local Toy dealership on a SLOW day, kick some tires, and if you're ready to buy, make them an offer for 30. They may counteroffer, and if it's acceptable to you, do it. They need sales and if they can make a sale @ invoice, they will do it.
PS... act like you really don't give a sh*t, and say you don't NEED to do a deal now, but if they could do your offer, you'd do it today.
They know if most customers don't buy that day, they probably won't buy soon.

From checking the different websites for a similar car, I think $27k is a fair offer. However, for peace of mind, I think you should spend another $1k on an 100k/8yr extended warranty, if you plan to keep the car about 6-7 years.

Good luck.

The OP indicated it already has the platinum warranty. What people are asking on the internet and what they get are two very different figures. Perhaps it's the demo that somebody recently posted about, where they tried to break the 4wd by driving around on the test drive on dry pavement with it engaged to see what noises it would make....

^ I agree... seems there's a back story here.

^ Ext Warranty great - but potential time in shop, not so much.

I recently just bought a 2011 SR5. The dealership had a 2010 with 16,000 miles for $27,900. I offered 25.5. We went back and forth for a while. The lowest they would go was 26.5. I ended up buying a brand new SR5 for 28.7 after a fairly short negotiation (2 days). My point - if the price is right, I'd go with the 2010. However, right now, you can get a 2011 for cheap if you are a good negotiator and have some patience.

And the fact that there are a couple of owners involved makes me suspicious.

I agree with the others. 3rd owner on a 2010 is not a good sign.

Spending a little more money on a 2011 is worth the peace of mind!

Although you or I would not be willing to spend that kind of money on a used vehicle apparently some dealers think that indeed someone will. I have a friend with a dealer's license and we've gone to the Manheim auction near Lancaster PA. on several occasions to find a good deal on a car for a familly member, friend etc. This is one of the country's largest auctions and every Friday evening they post for those with access on their website the results of the auction. I find it very interesting to log into that site and view the results (what dealer's actually paid) for these vehicles. Of course I always go to the Toyota list to see what has gone through that lane. For example, last week there were I believe 2 or 3 2010 SR-5 4-Runners each with between 10-20k miles on the odometer and I was surprised to see that each sold somewhere between $28 and $33k. There was a limited that sold for $36k. (no trails). So, judging from those sales I would expect that the dealer who picked these up would want to make at least $1500 dollars so I can rationalize why the dealer in this particular thread was asking what seems to be an excessive price.
