help me out with lift

I am going to go with front springs off of an LC they are 8 wraps.. I have heard of people using rear shocks off of fj80's for their rear springs with this set up??

what coils/shocks should I run up front to make my front sit around the same height? should I use rear shocks from an fj80, or a different shock?? I have been looking at blistein shocks but dont know what ones to get?? please help. the cheaper the better... Im tight on money right now

The LC coils are going to give you ~4-5" of lift, possibly more. There is nothing to lift the front that much, ~3" is the max the CVs can take. Anymore and the angle is too steep for them. You'll just have to get used to the raked look (which I think looks good on our runners).

If you're looking to go cheap, ProComps and Tokico Trekkmasters are less $$ than the Billies. Or just go with the fj80 shocks... or even aftermarket replacement shocks for an fj80 (like Monroes or something).

The 891 is a rear lift coil for the 3rd gen and i am not sure what you are referring to for the FJ shock like FJ Cruiser? or FJ80?

Also, Body lifts do not sag and won't cause any problems with the doors

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but OME 891s are sold as rear coils for a 3rd gen 4runner. I guess that means maybe they sell them for front coils on a 90's LC also? I'm not sure on that one. AFAIK, the fj80 shocks should work, but the 891s are pretty stiff if you don't carry 300-600 lbs extra weight back there. 890s are better for the average 4runner.

A 1" BL was definitely worth it for me because it helps me to clear my tires. I've never heard of a BL causing sagging to the point that the doors won't open/seal properly (or any sagging at all for that matter - at least on a 3rd gen).

BLs put more stress on the bolts holding the body on so you could break one a bit easier... and if you hammer your truck off road a lot, the worst that can happen is the pucks can punch through the body. This is pretty uncommon with the smaller BLs though. Problems like those are more common with bigger BLs like 3". If a puck goes through the body, you'd have to weld a piece of flat steel over the hole to support it and drill a hole for the bolt to go back through.

It looks like a new style progressive rate spring for OME like the ones F.O.R. was/is selling for the 80 series landcruiser. Has OME been selling this type of spring for awhile or did it just come out? I might go this route actually for my rear.

Maybe I'm just behind the times but I just googled OME 891 and it came up as a 3" 4runner lift on the rear. It looks like a new style progressive rate spring for OME like the ones F.O.R. was/is selling for the 80 series landcruiser. Has OME been selling this type of spring for awhile or did it just come out? I might go this route actually for my rear.

That's what I've been running for about a year now. They are heavy duty coils for towing/extra weight.

I'm sorry i appologize i was guessing at the numer of the coil, I dont remember which one it is i was refering to the 3" front lift coil.

so i can just use fj80 shocks all around, fj80 front springs in the rear, and OME springs in the front??

Anyone here ever heard of using an atv winch to compress your rear suspension via in cab for downhills?? or would rolling forward not be an issue? thanks.


I would really like to get 4-5" of lift without going to a SAS... as that would be a large chunk of cash.. but it is looking like thats not going to be possible.. :/

Oh, and as far as the issues with body lift, thats just what my stepdad had told me so i was asking to check up and see if he was right or not.

you cant use FJ80 shocks in front... its a strut, you can use FJ80 shocks and springs in the rear only.

OME shocks should be matched with OME springs...

and I have 4-5 inches of suspension lift. its not that pricey... toytec adjustable 600 coils in front, lc 9 wrap in the back..

Haha its all good brother. They are just rear OME springs set up for I believe a 3" lift with 100 lbs of additional weight.

@ 99-4runner Sorry to hijack the hell out of this thread but now you have me curious about these springs you mentioned.

I don't know for sure if they're progressive or not. But I can attest that they hold hundreds of lbs with ease. My back bumper has to weigh ~250-300 lbs with the spare and the hi-lift on there and the back only went down ~.5". Plus I have ~150-200 lbs of gear and tools in the back too. I put some OME 10mm trim packers in there and now it's back up to where it was before the bumper. They ride like a caddy with the weight but they were a little harsh IMO before I got the bumper.
