I've got my $500 from the contest.

So how should I spend this?

One definite = New Windshield and wipers. I estimate that being about $200.

So with $300 left, what do you recommend? Here's a list of possibilities I've compiled... feel free to suggest something. I would LOVE a supercharger or turbo setup but that's just way too much $$$. Very interested in power increasing.

Here's my biggest argument/opinion: What are you going to use the most?

One thing that people say contradicts this is window tint. But I say I use it every day because I can NOT stand driving down the road and having people see a clear shot of me through my drivers window. Dont know why, i just feel awkward.

So, I like window tint.

But out of that list what I can ask is, are you going to use Off Road fog lights that much? This was my first mod on my 4R and I never used them. Then a girl backed into it with a maintenance golf cart and hit it and broke it so I took them off and instead of replacing it I got a new Head Unit.

But the big one that screams out to me, that I think you should get, are Sliders. I believe I remember that you aren't using your running boards. If you damage your rocker (the part underneath your door) it will cost more to have that replaced than sliders. I had sliders on before my lift.

Have you thought of a roof rack? I just bought a Rola Roof rack with the extension for 200 some odd dollars. 2 cents

The retro fit may not be that expensive but from what I hear its a PITA! Unless you are very knowledgeable with that stuff.

How many times are you going to use a high lift jack. Ive been wheeling for a couple years now, and not once used one. Granted there was one time I could have used one but I'm still not comfortable using it. But then again, ive never had one.

The only other opinion I have is, how long are you going to enjoy the LED conversions to a different color? I used to want those in my past vehicles and now, I would never want them but along with this entire response these are just my opinions.

If so then you should decide on some thing that is more important first. Take the turbo or supercharger you mentioned. We all know how expensive they are but just think if you took that money you just got for free and slapped it into a savings account and started saving just 10 a week. You could have that turbo or super charger in no time. Now granted this is one of the things you could live with out but its something you really wanted instead. This makes it that much more important to you then any of the other little upgrades that you can do at any time with less money.

I just put some of those in to raise my rear back up after I put the new bumper/tire on, and it worked out good. You can stack 'em too if you want to double them up.

If you are planning on charging and running a laptop make sure you get one of at least 150 watts...

I bought this one.. CyberPower AC Mobile Power CPS175SI DC to AC power inverter - 175 Watt

and it has an adapter for a plane and two outlets and a usb charger for my Iphone..

I like my new 4xinnovations sliders way better than the TGs. I don't know if you want kick outs or not, but the 4x's are 66" and they're perfect.

Bodom... Thats alot of mods you want to do, I have a list just like it and anytime I have a ton of cash I go for the big items, cuz Ill have 60$ to do the little dinky things here and there. but it takes more patience and time to build up 500$

as far as the windshield hold off if you can, 200$ is way too much to pay, add it to your car insurance and itll cost like 50$ flat... I added it to mine 2 months ago and Ill be calling to have it replaced this week.

I actually have the same exact predicament, I will be doing a custom front tube bumper cuz whens the next time Im gonna have 500$

I already have window tint. My thing about Windshield tint is the UV coating that pretty much acts like tint but is clear. Very useful on my other car.

I do have a big hate for my lame headlights. I want either projector retrofit or offroad lights... or even both. Driving Mercedes at work everyday and driving my C230 really makes me hate my 4Runner's headlights. (obviously wont be using offroad lights on the street)

My 4Runner never came with running boards. I always debated sliders to complete the look, I don't like seeing the frame all too much and I sure wouldn't mind a little rocker protection especially from paint damage. This is pretty high up on my list... and the high lift jack is nice because we all know, the stock jack blows. The hi lift would work well with the sliders.

Your question, yes, I have thought of a roof rack, and it is listed in my list, but I don't know how necessary it is in the case that I don't think I would ever use it... but it would be nice for lights. The dcrease in mileage isn't fancy either...

I just guessed on windshield cost. I just got the card and I'm planning to call my dealership's windshield people. I have had it with the rock chips, they've been there since day one, and I just want them gone. Rainy season is coming and I want to get new blades, I'm not wasting good money on nice blades to have them chewed up by rock chips. I hear ya though. If it ends up being cheaper, well then, I shall be happy
Power inverter looks pretty cool. I don't necessarily need the ipod charger or anything since I have an iPod hookup in the car, but why not? I'll keep this one in mind.





So with sliders in mind, what set do you guys think are a good choice? I chose trailgears for a few reasons:

They're a good price, look good, and I don't know exactly if I want the kick out. I've seen a few members with them and they seem satisfied.

Whatever ones I want, I would get them gusseted... and while this seems like a good plan, what do you think installing these would cost? I don't know how to weld.

How would they stand up to a side impact? That sounds like a good plus in having Sliders. I don't wanna be a cheap person but I honestly don't want to blow all of my money on sliders in one swoop.
