Help-need instructions front door panel removal

Hi All,

I need instructions in how to remove the driver side front door panel. I'm sure this topic has been covered before, however I couldn't find anything using search.

My driver side power window is not rolling up or down properly and I want to take a look inside the door panel. The front driver side window starts to roll down, but one side tilts down as it's rolling down.

Has anyone had this problem before. I believe the following parts might be the problem:

1. Glass run
2. Front front left
3. Rear rear left
4. Power power left

Hopefully this helps...

Take out the screw behind the interior handle.

Towards front of the door you see a circle within a circle (below the tweeter in the top-right of the door I think). Push the center circle in and you can pull the whole piece out.

There is another one of these on the edge of door panel (looking at the far left side of the panel...on the edge where the panel meets the door)...towards the top. Take that out. See the picture..

Pull up and off the armrest rest piece and then remove the two screws that were hidden.

Pull upwards on the one end of the window control piece (can't remember which end). This should pop up pretty easily. Unhook the wire harnesses and remove.

See if you can get a grip on the lower right side of the panel (speaker side).

If you can't get a grip on the panel, slip something between the door and panel along the bottom and try to slip your fingers between them

Now start pulling the panel towards you. This takes a good amount of force. You will have to pop around 10 plastic fasteners around the panel. If you break a few you can get them at Toyota or buy new ones on eBay. Take your time popping each one.

Oh yeah, pop the bottom and sides, then when the whole thing is loose you will need to push upwards on the panel to unhook it from the top (along the window). Push the lock down to make it easier to get the panel over it.

It has been quite a while since I have done this so I could easily be forgetting something but this is at least a starting point for you.

On the far left of the window controls carefully slip something between the controls and panel to pop it up. Then pull the controls to the left...

Pulling the door panel to access door handle

Hey Guys -

After a AAA visit that went nowhere and half-dozen locksmiths either laughing at me or letting me know that I was hosed...I rolled up my sleeves and tore into it. Carefully going back over all of the previous threads, I just began dismantling the side door.

After several arduous attempts at pulling off the panel and quite a bit of prayer...I was able to slip my hand in the top left hand side of the door and wiggle the mechanism around until it unlocked! Hallelujah! Then I just followed the above directions using the tie rap and re assembled the panel. Victory!

Can't thank you all enough! My hands and arms are all tore up from the tight squeeze...however, I saved the $180 one locksmith quoted me. Go Toyota - 4Runner . org Forum - Powered by vBulletin!!

Most helpful and a bump to the top! A lot of other links and writeups are just dead and this was the only one I could find that allowed me to access.

This is how you do it, though one step was overlooked. After all the screws are removed, you have to actually pull the door panel away from the door so the clips come out. Then, you can pull up and it comes out.

OP never got his off, so I am assuming this is why.
