HELP Needed - Trailer Brakes

ATX Runner

New member
I have a 2016 TRD Pro 4runner. We just purchased a Jayco Hummingbird travel trailer. I just installed the Primus IQ trailer brake controller. Everything seems to be working fine, but when the trailer is connected, my traction control light stays on and the Multi Terrain light is flashing. It does not do it when I disconnect the trailer. Could this be a wiring error? Im hoping to get this resolved soon we have trip planned this weekend.

Do you have wiring diagrams for the trailer and brake controller? That would make troubleshooting easier as you can verify operation via the drawings and also see if they match up correctly.

If not then I suggest you make your own as you figure this out. First verify the outputs from the 4Runner at the rear connector without anything else connected - that means the controller too.

Then verify the trailer wiring from its plug. That means all wires to all locations including grounds.

Then look at the controller. If you don't have a drawing, look on-line or call them for one. The controller is for electric brakes right? If its installed you will need to verify it was done correctly. Also verify any grounds added.

Problem Solved

I did some more research nd it turns out I have the wrong wiring harness. Just ordered the correct one and it looks like that should fix the problem. For those who run into a similar issue. The correct wiring harness is the 3041-P. The one I originally purchased was the 3040-P.
