Help needed!!!!!!

On the side of the freeway.

Heat was not working so great the last couple days, didn't think anything of it. Was driving and the top of the radiator split open. Any causes other than a bad radiator?

If you where not overheating just probably an old radiator.

Same happened to me about a month ago. I didn't even notice it until I went out for my first work break and saw a bunch of puddles under my truck. And when I opened the hood it looked like a coolant bomb had gone off. Coolant everywhere! Ended up finding a nice foot long crack in the top.

Replaced the rad., both hoses, cap, stat (jiggle valve at six o'clock position), all OEM, and so far so good.

I also took the opportunity to add an inline trans cooler. Now's the time if you have ever thought about it

Well, conceivably a rad cap rusted into zero function could cause an overpressure and the rad might have been the weakest point. Get a new cap with your new rad just to be safe. I'd check out the old cap just for curiosity.
