Help on Fair Offer

Hello,

Wondering if you could offer me some insight on the value of this truck. Its at a dealer, one owner, clean CarFax and is Toyota Certified. Miles = 41,209. The price seems high to me. I looked at the KBB and they are in +/- in line with retail. When I talked with sales (at least the one guy) they didnt want to move much. I put about 17k a year and dont know how bad this will hurt the resale value later on.

Anyways, what do you all htink is a fair offer?

Also found a 07 Titanium Silver with 14,930 miles for $34,950. Same details, one owner clean CarFax. I have not seen this in person but it looks clean from the photos. These Limited's must hold good value-alomost get into a basic gen 5 for this $.

BTW: Hope to be in my first T4R.

TIA

The KBB Retail value is just the price where the dealer starts negotiating down, much like sticker price on a car. The "private party" sale price is more like what you would really pay for the car. The "wholesale/trade-in" price gives you an idea of what the dealer paid for the car.

To put some perspective on it.

Bought a 07 Limited with everything EXCEPT 3rd row, XREAS and RAS.
V8
29K from an individual seller
~19K miles on it

That seems like a great price. I will be throwing some offers out with the dealers and try more private parties as well.

Thanks for the input.

To me, the price seems high with that many miles.

Our one owner, clean Carfax, '08 Limited V6 with 20k miles I took home for around 31.

Granted its a V6 versus the V8 you are looking at but I'm very happy with its performance and the ability to run 2WD if I want for better fuel economy.

I don't want to start a :flamewar:, but something to keep in mind is that you will be replacing the timing belt on a V8 in about 3-4 years with the mileage you put on. The V6 uses a timing chain and you don't need to worry about changing it.

Nobody has commented on the color. That is one of the hardest 4runners to sell. When I was looking for a LTD , my friend that owns a Toyota dealership advised me to stay away from gold and to go with a V-6 for better resale. He set me up with a white 2006 LTD 4x4 2 months ago with 51k for $17,800.
