I am painting my new rear hatch door and the color match from PPG looks great. I was able to buy the thundercloud gray in spray can. I was having trouble getting the clearcoat to shine like a mirror from the can. The guy who sold me the PPG told me (After purchased and attempted) that I'll never get that gloss finish out of a can.
So now I purchased a Husky HVLP spray gun (Husky Gravity Feed HVLP Spray Gun - HDS79000AV at The Home Depot) to use with my compressor and purchased PPG clearcoat (it's a 2 part system mixed with hardener). I was unable to get the gun to spray the clearcoat. I followed the directions maticulously. I could not even get water to pass through. Only air would pass through. Anybody use one of these and know what I may be doing wrong...or do I have the werong gun?
I took it back to Home Depot and they gave me a new one to try rather than try to help me understand the issue. I'll try that one tonight...maybe there was something wrong with the gun. Anyone have ideas?
