Help! Rear shock top nut problem!

Hi.

A newbie here just purchased a 2002 4Runner. I read the threads about the trouble reaching the upper nut on the rear shocks. There is a rusty old pair of Ranchos on that are in bad need of replacing. I think that the previous owner may have rounded the nut as I can't get the socket to bite on one side. The other side is plain frozen. What would be a good plan "B"? Would there be a way to cut the threaded shaft with a Dremel if I could cut out the bottom rubber ring?

Thanks. Rob.

Sawzall that thing. Cut through the bolt just below the mount. You will have no choice but to throw them away afterwards though.
