Help Removing Plastic Panel above Radiator

Hey guys i finally got a chance to install my HID kit i got but i'm having trouble removing that big plastic panel above the radiator to run the wire from the right side of the car to the battery. Basically i'm having difficulties removing the plastic tabs holding the panel down.

My question is for you guys that have removed it, how were you able to remove the tabs without breaking them? I've already snapped two and had to stop for now just because i don't want to break the rest.

I plan to call the parts department at my dealers to see if i can buy the plastic tabs and if thats the case then i wouldn't care so much about snapping the rest if i did, but if i could save some money and a trip by not breaking them in the first place that would be great.

Use a flathead.

I kinda broke the head of one of the tabs, but I was able to salvage it.

I did use a flat head but that's how I broke it. Maybe it's too cold? i live here in Alaska and it was a nice 50 degree spring afternoon and so maybe the plastic was too hard and not malleable enough to easily remove?

Use a flathead...

IIRC, use the flat head or needle nose pliers to pry the center locking portion up out of the larger "washer" face. Then pry the larger washer and stem out of the hole. Look at one of your broken pieces. The center slides and locks.

I broke like 3 of mine too and I dont think the dealer sells these without having to buy the entire shield.

It's called a "clip". The part # is 90467-08217. Mine cost $9.60 for 12. (There are 11 for the entire radiator cover. Mine came from http://www.1sttoyataparts.com

Thanks for the tip! i'll use that site next time i need parts. I got my clips from the dealer which set me back $2.90 a piece!!! luckly i only needed 3.
