Help - Running Board Removal

Please help! I took off my drivers side running board but the passenger side has two bolts that are stuck and a little rounded off. If you have removed your boards you will know its a tight squeeze for tools. Any advice would be appreciated.

For now my runner looks lopsided.

If you have six point sockets, I'd use those. The 12 point sockets can round off bolts easier.

Also, I've seen those sockets that are suppose to grip the bolt even if it is rounded off. It's suppose do dig into the bolt. Can't remember the name. Also don't have any experience using them.

Its half inch bolt but the half inch for my impact wrench is a bit too large and thats what i think rounded it off. I have a half inch that fits in a drill chuck but my drill doesnt have the torgue to pull it off. I tried using an angled screwdriver that has a ratchet function and a fitting that works with chuck-type bits but i broke that pulling too hard :(

That sounds like your problem right there. As far as I know, there is no imperial hardware on our trucks- its all metric. Youre probably trying to remove a 12mm bolt or nut with a 1/2" wrench. Try using a good 6 point in the proper size and try again.

After a trip to the store to get a metric set and a 20" breakover bar, I finally got those bolts out!

Heres a terrible picture of it now.
