I have a chance to buy a 2000 sr5 runner with only 120k on it for only 4k. The only thing is it has the rear rocker panels under the rear door rotted right off it. Is this a common problem for these or is this a rare case?? This does no thave the running boards on it and I was thinking that this might have been the reason for the rot?? Do you think that the whole underneith would become a problem for rust or rot? I am in New Hampshire so alot of winter road salt. Any help would be great as I am looking to buy it today, or tommarow. Any help would be great.

Is it possible for you to look at the vehicle first? I don't think it would be a good idea to try to estimate the level of rust underneath by the rust on the body.

I just bought a 2000 SR5 from Vermont, and it has alot of rust. I paid alot more than 4k, so you can do alot of fixing with the amount you are saving on the deal.

I would definitely say look at the car first, see how bad the chassis is rusted. That's the only part you can't replace.

Thanks, I have seen it once already but did not climb under it as I didn't think they would have taken my 4k offer. I am going back to get under it and drive it. So as long as the frame is not rotted through I should be good?
