Help - side curtain airbags

I have been trying to purchase on 06 Sport 4X4, V6 or V8, with side curtain airbags (GY) but without the moonroof (SR). (Like many people, my head hits the ceiling in 4Runners equipped with a mooroff).

Has anyone seen a sport model with side airbags but without a moonroof?

I was hoping to buy one in time to take advantage of year end incentives, but after a nationwide search I have not been able to find one equipped that way. I spoke with with Toyota customer relations but they were not able to tell me if any have been produced or if I can even order it that way. I recognize that Toyota can't build every possible combination, but it seems a shame that they would tie a critical safety item like side curtain airbags to an option (the moonroof) that actually prevents *tall* people from purchasing the vehicle.

I had the same problem and ended up buying one without the side airbags because I didn't want to wait. You will have to custom order. Toyota really sucks with the useful options...

You might try sitting in a Limited with a sunroof. The driver's seat can be lowered so that the headroom is no longer an issue.

I'm 6'2" with a 33" inseam and I'm entirely comfortable in our '03 Limited with sunroof.

limited model head room

I tried sitting in a limited model with moonroof. With the drivers seat all the way down and the seat back in an upright position, my head just brushes the roof. (borderline acceptable)

When I sit in the passenger seat, however, my head makes full contact with the roof, because the passenger seat cannot be lowered. (At least in the Limited I sat in).

Has anyone seen a sport model with side airbags but without a moonroof?

I have a Sport V6 (2WD though, not 4WD) with side airbags and no moonroof. It was a standard config for my region, so no special order was necessary.

I also considered a Limited V6 (2WD too) that had side airbags, X-REAS, and the JBL upgrade, but no moonroof.

On the other hand, (again in my particular region) I believe all Sport models with side airbags also had the JBL upgrade, so if you wanted one but not the other, you were out of luck. I wanted the JBL system with the changer, so that config was fine for me.
