HELP snapped bolt on rear shock mount

Hey guys, I'm stressing. I did the daystar 2.5 1.5 install yesterday. The install wasn't too bad, just took a bit of time. Everything went perfect besides when I went to remove the bolt holding on the bottom of the rear strut. Got about 3 turns on it and the head snapped off. There is about 2/3 of the bolt shaft left inside the mount that the bottom of the shock sits on.

I took it to my local toyota dealership and they said the only think they could do was replace my whole rear axle for $2700!!! I really need some help in a more realistic solution to this problem. Thank you in advance..

From what you're saying it sounds like the only thing that broke was the bolt itself. I have no idea why Toyota would suggest to replace the axle unless maybe the axle to shock mount had fatigued and broken if that is the case I would take your truck to a local welder. However it sounds to me like it's just the bolt that's broken. If you have screwed it out far enough you may be able to hammer it out the rest of the way. Try getting a socket extension and a hammer. If the bolt it still threaded into the nut you could try cutting it with a grinder, then find new hardware. Good luck!

HAH hope you told that dealership to F-OFF, i can't believe some of the bullshit that those people spew out of their mouths...

anyway if you a friend has a welder clean the piece of the bolt that is sticking out and weld a nut to the end of it, the heat from the weld will loosen up that grip, throw a wrench on it and get that sucker out of there!. If you dot know a anyone with a welder take it to a local muffler shop and those guys will be more than happy to help you, it takes no more than 5 minutes to weld up a nut and put a wrench on it.

If it were me. I would drill out. Being careful not to get into the threads. Then use a thin punch to get the lip on the remaining bolt thread to get them out then use a tap to run through the threads to clean out any remaining debris.
