Help!: SR5 or Sport?

Hi All, New 4Runner owner here. I am thrilled with my new truck, but have a question I hope you can help me with. See, I bought this 2006 T4R used, from a dealer. It was leased out for about 9 months. Of all the documents I have on the vehicle, some call it a "SR5/Sport," an "SR5/SP," or just "SR5."

To confuse the matter, it does not fit the "profile" of a "Sport Edition," more than maybe a dressed up SR5 V6 4X4. It does NOT have the hood scoop or power seats. It DOES have a moonroof, leather wheel & shift knob, tow package, chrome handles & grille (what is "smoked"?), third row, and nice cloth seats (what is "stone" vs. "charcoal grey" anyway?), and 17" 5 spoke wheels.

Why is this important?...I am interested in doing a lift mod, and I believe I read here that you do not lift a Sport Edition with X-REAS. I have not crawled under the vehicle and do not know how to identify X-REAS if I did.

So...any suggestions on how I can tell if this is a Sport Edition?

Deff custom ordered by the original owner (do they do that with leases??)

that is strange..
does the owners manual say anything like

SR5

or something on it?
 
It sounds like you have a SR5 with a few options(3rd row seat, moonroof, 17inch wheels). The Sport did not have the 3rd row seat option. Also you can look at your shocks and see if there is an oil line connected to it. The Xeas has oil lines on each shock going to a center resvoir. Are the outside mirrors painted? Sr5 have black mirrors. Hope this helps!

Sounds like a SR5, no hood scoop, 5 spoke 17" wheels, 3rd row, all those are features or options on SR5's. BTW, smoked grill and head lights appear darker than bright chrome, sometimes hard to tell other than seeing the two side by side.
 
Thanks guys...The original owners manual was not among the documents I got. The truck is black, so the mirror tip-off is tough, lol. I wouldn't think they would do such a custom job for a lease. I also tend to think it is a dressed up SR5, but some of the documents confuse me.

I will make that crawl and look for lines coming off the shocks.

Do you have heated mirrors? Are they color keyed to match the car? That should be a dead giveaway.

Me thinks its a SR5 cause of the 3rd row/moonroof.
 
I have an SR5, and my documents all say the same thing SR5/Sport, or something along those lines. It is because for some reason insurance, and probably financing companies or leasing companies (I dont know about the last two, but i assume they are just like the insurance companies) consider the sr5 and sport close enough for calculating reasons or something. They put you as either sr5/sport or limited. sr5s and sports are probably close enough in price for them to not have to deal with making a third category.

if it has 3rd row it is not a sport. Does it not say on the side of the car sr5? Chrome handles and grille are only on sr5, and the sports come with 6 spoke wheels. I think they all come with leather steering wheel and shift knob now. Stone is light grey, and charcoal grey is basically black.
Even if it was a sport, you could lift it about 3 inches with a spacer lift. Many people here have done so.
 
You definitely have an SR5, a loaded one at that. Doesn't seem custom, a lot of SR5's come with quite a few options depending on where you're located.

The reason a lot of documents list SR5/Sport is because the 7th digit on the VIN is the trim code. The SR5's and Sports share the same code (4) while the Limiteds have a 7.
 
Piling on at this point, but it is an SR5 as the config is the same as my '07 except for the leather steering wheel option. Leather steering wheel was a common option when I bought the '01, but hard to find in the '07 w/ the third row seats. I did find one or two but not in the colors I wanted. It is a rare config, but nothing really custom.

Wow...thank you all for your help! Cool stuff! I am thrilled to know I have a nicely equipped SR5!! (but now wondering why I paid soo much for it, but that's another question, lol!)

Let the mods begin!! I'm thinking OME medium riders, bull bar with PIAA driving lights, and a safari basket....TRD shift knob already on, perhaps a supercharger?!

I am going to have fun with this truck!!
