Help! Startup Got Bad Randomly...

Hi guys,

Yesterday, I went to go start my car and it wouldn't start up.

Then after trying again about 5 - 10 seconds later, it started up but still had trouble. I've attached a video of the second, but troubled startup.

What could be wrong? Also, my radio stations got reset so I'm assuming it has to do with the battery and/or alternator. HOWEVER, everything works perfectly (i.e. no dim lights, radio works fine, AC works fine) so I don't know if it is the battery or what.

ALSO, if it starts, then I drive around for a quick grocery shopping and start my car up normally, everything is fine.

Was your battery detached recently? Usually after I detach mine, I will have a problem with startup/idle until the computer learns where it should be again with the fuel to air ratio.

No sir, it just happened randomly yesterday. Normal driving and it was driven over the weekend so it hasn't just been sitting there.

I was just reading, could it be the starter?

I had that same problem and I thought it was the starter contacts but my battery was older so I replaced it and it fixed the problem. Maybe your case too, maybe not but I had the exact same problem.

Yea, at first, it doesn't crank at all then I wait a little then it's a long crank.

Thing is that just happened all of sudden so I don't know.

I went out to go buy a new battery so I'll see how things go.

I had this exact same problem just last week, car was having trouble starting and the radio would be reset randomly.

Brought it to the dealer and it did turn out to be the battery which I had replaced last year so they replaced it under warranty.
