HELP! Steering Wheel Control interface & Rear View Camera

so i installed an after market HU and ordered the steering wheel control interface. i ordered this Amazon.com: Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (Black): Electronics

Their site is awesome. It tells you everything you need to know for wiring it up. but the issue is car toys couldnt use the factory harness from the UR so they hacked it up so now im lost. does anyone know the color of the wires for the steering wheel controls on an 08' runner?

i tried this site but i couldnt find a wiring diagram.

and another question for those who have installed a back up camera, where did you mount it? there isnt a lot of options on the back of the 4Runner

Sorry I can't help you with the steering wheel wires. I did a similar upgrade put used the PAC switch for steering wheel controls.

As for the camera, I installed mine in the area just left of the license plate. It's right where the license plate lights are mounted. You should see a seam that is where it would normally be cut out if you had a factory install. I have an 04 so maybe it's not the same for an 08.

do you happen to have a picture of your set up? ive looked all around in that area cause thats the ideal location. but i just cant seem to figure out how to mount it. without getting in the way of the lights or the tailgate release.

i was able figured out the steering wheel controls thanks to another post on the forum. the OP provided the wiring diagram

this is my camera setup. I'm not sure how involved you want to get but you will need to remove the back door panel (on the inside) to pull off the the plastic shield that the Toyota emblem is mounted on. That way you can cut away the part that would normally be removed. If you run the camera there you'd have to remove that back panel anyways. This is my thread that shows the location. I'll see if I can find any other pics.

thats a great thread thanks Revo ive already ran the wires for the camera to the back of the car. just needing to find a placement for it. i didnt order the pioneer camera, i went cheap and found one [with great reviews] for $30 on amazon. i know you get what you pay for, i just dont think ill use it that much to spend the money on the pioneer one. plus this one has night vision and it didnt seem like a lot of other ones did? i am not going to hook up the reverse lamp for it. just set it so i can turn it on [half screen] from the home screen when ever i want.
my camera is a little larger than yours, maybe 1 1/2" round so i may need to fabricate something to put in the same location.

Mount on license plate bezel it's a pain but very easy
