Hi everyone :hello: new here to posting threads! I have been having transmission troubles lately with my 87 4-runner. It is 22re with automatic problem I'm having is that it dies going from park to reverse and reverse to drive and when you come to a stop unless you put it in neutral. Put new torque conv. in it and I am still having same problem. I was told by Toyota mechanic that it might be computer or throttle body, everything else checked ok by mechanic. :redbrick: Anyone else have any ideas?? :thanks:

Hey John(s), John here.
My auto wont shift out of 1st gear. I have park-reverse, Neutral annd first... It wont up shift. I had it apart to swap my auto transfer case to a gear drive
I had the tranny apart and moved the park pawl into the transmission from the old transfer case. I had to remove the valve body to do this. Is there anything obvious that I did wrong that would cause this symptom?

Not sure, you use the inchworm adaptor?

yes. big bucks. im sure its something I did wrong, a ball valve or a bolt in the wrong hole. First time I ever did transmission work, then it got cold and I lost interest in the project. trying to dust it off now. John#1 not trying to hijack your post.

what I mean is, in taking the valve body off, replacing the park rod and pawl and putting the VB back on, I fouled sumpin up, thats as deep as I went.

with runner. we put new tc clutch solenoid, filter and fluid in it and no change
at all. Was told to check distributor , computor and throttle body. What do you think
about the dist. have you ever heard of that being bad and doing what my runner
is doing? Are you think something else could be my problem? John (ctb) Oh and

Never heard of that causing that issue.
