Help! V8 Engine - can someone take a pic please?

I had my 04 4Runner in to the dealer with an electrical problem recently - turned out to be the alternator which had to be replaced. The first time I lifted the hood after was a week or so later and I swear there was an engine cover on there before and now there is not - have called the dealer and they said to drop by for them to take a look but their tech does not recall having anything left to put back. Of course now I am beginning to wonder if I am going a little crazy but I can't for the life of me find pictures of what it should like (does it have an engine cover or was that a dream I had?) I would be really grateful if somebody could lift up their hood on a 4th Gen (2003 or 2004 if possible - I know things changed on the 2005 engine a little) and take a quick pic and post.

Btw - I am still loving this truck coming up to 6 years - best vehicle I ever bought.

I too have an 04 4Runner V8 like yours and our engine looks the same as tomhaney. I would have a picture for you but it's 10:15pm right now.

Ever get a rattling noise from the engine bay Tom? I couldn't figure it out for the longest time and finally found out it was from the intake tubing hitting the heat shield. I cut out a piece from the extra edge trim and lined the bottom of the hole of the heat shield. I also find that my filter comes loose after awhile and am always having to tighten the hose clamp.

Yeah I would get that at high throttle but I tightened the bolts and it went away. I also periodically re-tighten the clamps. If you have a picture of that modification I'd like to take a look at it. Lately I've had two odd issues. 1) When turning the engine on I get a weird noise coming from the passenger side dash area as the engine turns over. 2) When the brakes are cold and I release the brake pedal from "R" it sounds like my front passenger brake is breaking loose. It is quite audible and there is also a hissing when apply the brakes. It's weird though because it only happens when it's cold and if I hear the hissing all I have to do is release and then re-apply the brakes and it goes away.
