Help With 3RD Gen Transmission Drain Plug Gasket

Hello All,

My local Toyota parts guy (who is an all around good guy) insists this is the right part, but looking at Timmy's vid and the drain plug itself, makes me think otherwise.

Can a member(s) confirm this is the right gasket for the tranny?

Also, and if it not correct, if you post a pic of the correct part, that would be a big help.

I'm certain I have the right part #, but the part is just not right.

Apples and oranges but that is the style I get from the dealer for my 93 corolla. I would think 4Runner would be similar. Mines a manual so can’t be certain.

I can't confirm yours is correct, but here is the crush washer I used recently on my transmission. No leaks and it fit perfect. The other side is smooth. This is aftermarket from Amazon.

I thought mine was copper washer.... (could be wrong though)

The picture of this part looks like what you have there.. Do the part numbers match..;-)

Those type though are the single use one.. Copper crush washers are resuable

Yes. They have a crush washer on them. Just like your Diffs and oil plugs too..
I replace the oil crush washer every oil change and buy them by the 10 pack because they fit all toyota oil plugs..

Looks correct, it's a small drain hole.

Yes. For some reason I am thinking the original is copper from the factory. Now those newer crush are single use if they actually crush (have a lip that crushes in). Just like the original front end washer was a non reusable crush washer. I just try to keep my copper ones as they are so much better and multi-usable..

Can reuse them many times.

Is it pure aluminum washer or is one that has a lip that crushes down to seal..

Basically a flat washer that is copper and aluminum can be used many times but some of these are non flat ones. I wouldn't reuse too many times.. But worse case, you could always change if it starts leaking..

just remember not to over tighten, these plugs like to strip the pan.
same with pan to tranny, those like to strip too.
