Help with a couple odd sounds

First sound I noticed after I changed my ATF fluid ( I don't know if this is the cause). It sounds like a can with pebbles in it when I am cruising along at slow speeds at lower rpms. It concerns me because I had just changed the ATF fluid. Sometimes I can hear it at idle with the window down.

Second sound happens rarely but it's a clunking sound on the drivers side front. Only lasts a few seconds but I can feel it through the floor boards.

I would check all the exhaust heat shields. Especially the one over the muffler. Those are always going bad.

The rear clamp on the exhaust heat shield under the driver's door is probably rusted through and broken. That will give you the "can of pebbles" rattle at certain engine speed vibrations. The fix is a $2 screw type hose clamp installed where the rusted one fell off.

Have you checked the exhaust like the other posters have suggested? Just from what you've said my opinion is that the ATF change has nothing to do with the sounds you're hearing -- it's probably coincidental. Both sounds are probably related.

The tin can noise ended up being the heat shield under the driver side. It had rusted out around the bolts so I just yanked it out.

The thunking noise I have yet to figure out. It hasn't happened in a while and when it does I can't tell what it is because it goes away so fast.

The clunking sound could be lots of things. Most likely would be the stabilizer bar end links or ball joints. Could possibly be the control arm bushings too.

Mine ended up being the stabilizer bar ends. I diagnosed it by removing the stabilizer bar completely to see if the sound went away. It did. I then replaced the ends and bushings and all is good.
