help with body lift Questions

I had alot a questions about body lift!!!!

I was wondering where i can get a set of 2-3in for my 2004 4runner(4in lift)!!!

are there any benefits of a body lift othere then tire clearance?

what am i gonna lose with a body lift?

I have acess to a mechanics bay to install it. bUt, is a body lift hard to install?

If i put a body lift could i take it off and go back to stock??

I hate to just tell you to go read a page, but look here for great information and a place to buy a body lift from. Even though the page isn't fancy looking, many people sport Roger Brown equipment on their Toyota. I think the biggest body lift you can get on a 2004 without having to do a diff drop is 1.5 inches.

They aren't difficult to install, and you should be able to do it by yourself, or with a buddy.

Roger Brown Body Lift is what you're looking for. The absolute MAX is 1.5" due to limitations on the availability of supplied bolts from Roger Brown himself. Therefore, you can't go higher (unless you want to compromise safety).

Body lifts are not really recommended (even though I have one) as it's not "really" safe. The reality of the body lift is to add spacers between the frame and body. There are 8 spacers that you add thus providing more space between. This will give you more height clearance so you can fit larger tires but this also means that if any of those 8 spacers fail, you're in deep crappers. There's a image of a jeep floating where he got into a fender bender and the body just ripped right off the frame because he had a BL setup (rare but it can happen).

BL's are easy to install (only need hand tools.) Just follow the direction from Roger Brown and make sure you work on 1 side at a time.

I'd say go w/ a good suspension lift and call it a day unless you want more height. What size tire are you planning to go? 285's will rub but that's expected as you're increasing 3" (1.5" to eachside of the tire). If you're going bigger, you'll encounter other issues that a BL won't fix.

Btw, diff drop is worthless so don't waste of your $ there. YOu won't need it w/ the amount of lift you're doing (unless you plan to go extreme - in that case let us know what you're planning) .

Uh, wrong. I happen to have 2" BL from Roger , and he'll do up to 3". Anything over 3" is crazy anyway.

There's nothing wrong w/BL's, if they're done right. It's people who use hockey pucks and stuff that give BL's a bad rap.

A 2" BL allows me to raise my fuel tank and drive train 2" for a flatter underbelly.

Per Roger Brown the 4th gen 4runners may only have a max of 1.5". The previous gens can go 3" I believe.

The problem is the bolt. He's unable to find any production bolts long enough with the grade 8 setting.

I currently have 285/70/17 and a 4/3 in lift. I was wondering if this would help with the rubbing and help the height oof my truck. I hate being the height of a stock 05 tacoma. I dont really have that much body roll with my current lift and wouldn't mind havign it a little higher.

Would this help my problem???

How much does the roger brown cost???

I plan on doing minor off-roading and maybe in the long run geta 6in lift, I really want 35's

About the cost, check the webpage that I sent you, he has all his prices on the page. It depends on what hardware you choose.

Also, remember, this is a toyota and not a F150, for *minor* offroading, you don't need 35's and 6inches of lift. Check out Lance's (Good Times) pictures of his 4runner at Moab. He's doing some of the harder stuff at Moab and as far as I know, he's got a 2.5" suspension lift and Roger's 1.5" body lift.

I do *minor* offroading, and I'm running stock right now.

Also take a look at the pro trucks that run the Baja 1000, they really aren't lifted that high, they just have really good suspension travel.
