I've only heard of people try using the 05-2010 Tacoma 5-spoke 17" wheels (which I believe are the same as the 4th gen 4Runner) but haven't seen pictures for proof.
I really like the look of 5-spokes and the 7.5" width would allow me to get 285's but I am worried about the difference in offset and backspacing.
The Tacoma wheels have 15mm (.6") of offset, and a 5.5" backspacing. Comparing to my SR5 wheels with 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing, can this even work?
So if I understand correctly...
The difference in offset will set these .6" inward.
The difference in backspacing will set these 1" inward.
The difference in rim width will set these .25" inward.
The difference in 285 tires will set these .4" inward.
Total pushing inside 2.25"
With the help from spidertrax 1.25"... It would still be about an inch inward so would this work?
Hopefully I am wrong on this, since even with the increased rim width, and tire width... It would still also stick out .35" less on the outside. Most of the gain in width will all be making up for the HUGE amount pushed inward.
Really hoping my math is wrong here cause those 5 spokes would look nice.
