Help with removing a 2019 TRD Pro rack.

I need some advice from anyone that has removed this rack. When I was removing the bolts on the rack I realized that the but underneath the roof is not welded like on 2018 models. In place of the but there is a plate that both nuts go into. As I was removing the second bolt I noticed the plate underneath moving. I stopped the removal at this point because I was concerned the plate would just fall into the headliner which would require me to remove interior trim which I don't want to do.

you need to loosen all the bolts first do not remove, once all bolts are loosen then start to remove one by one there is a peace in the back of the rack that makes it come apart so you will have two L shapes and a connecter piece
i am also interested in buying your roof rack please let me know thanks i am in Cal. and will pay for shipping good luck

I avoided the TRD Pro because I was afraid of removing the rack. I'm interested in how much it weighs of you have a chance.

Any interest in selling the old rack?

It's a plate BETWEEN the rack and the roof seam weld. It won't fall in, it's sitting on top. The roof has the same drilled holes its always had.
 
Got the rack off and installed the new one.

Does anyone know if I can temporarily remove the roof rack on a 2019 TRD Pro? Will water get inside if I do not install another roof rack?

Got the image from the owner. He lightened it somehow and that is how he sent it.

I didnt think i wouldn’t like the color but it looks good in person.

If it rains you will get water in it. I recommend placing some silicone and then reinserting the bolts. This will keep the water out.

Looking to take the basket rack off my 2019 TRD Pro since it makes the truck too tall for the ceiling of the parking garage at the University where I am for the next several weeks. Being new to 4Runners, I just want to make sure I understand: I can remove the rack and simply reinsert the bolts into the mounting holes with some silicone and be good to go?

So, a few things to take note of: there are two locations per hole that can leak water. One is down the throat of the plastic tubes (where the bolt threads in) and the hole around the plastic tube itself.

Also, I WOULD NOT use silicone to seal anything, temporary or otherwise. Besides being difficult to remove, silicone will harden and retract eventually, and it can weaken and remove paint. Use butyl rubber, it is an effective seal and stays pliant for years. It's basically the consistency of sticky tack.

There are options for roof rack delete kits if you want to keep the rack off for good. They are little plates that come with shorter bolts.
