Help with replacement (back-up) keys

I have an 08 Sport and only have the grey key w/ fob. Went into the dealer to get a back up key made and they said I would have to have the whole car re-programmed to get a master key (black) which was needed before they could make a back-up set of keys. Whew! The cost exceeded $250 to do all that. :crybaby:

Is there an alternative?

I looked into this about a year ago. Needless to say I couldnt come up with another option so, here I am one year later with only a grey key. Its EXPENSIVE.

Call various locksmiths I know one here in San Marcos that reset and made me a new key and reprogrammed both FOB's to my G35. He said it was fairly easy took him less than 30 mins to do it all. Just have to find someone knowledgeable I assume.
It only cost me $50 for that, the only thing is that there is no "master" key with the G. Let me know if you want their number and see if they can do it.
