Help with tire decision - sticky suggestion?

Currently, the 4runner is my wife's DD. However, it has become apparent that I cannot leave it alone. I need to get new tires for some family offroad adventures. My plan is to get a 2nd set of wheels, since the originals still have some life, but aren't exactly trail ready (siped 265/75 michelin LTX's).

Right now the 4runner is on '99 coils with a 1" BL. I can't really afford a proper OME lift, and I'm not so interested in spacers. SO, the question is, will 255/85-16's be ok until lift time later down the road or am I asking for big rub? I'd plan on mounting them to OE wheels - 16x7 (5star) or 16x8 (LC's)

I would recommend the lift before the tires. They may fit but more than likely will rub, especially off road. Most of the 255 runners have a lift from what I have read but maybe someone will chime in that has a 1999 with that size already and no lift. The 265/75's won't look too small with a lift but again based on your off-road adventures ground clearance may become an issue.
