What's the difference between a FJ80 and an FZJ80???

im not 100% certain but if i remember correctly, the FJ80 and FZJ80 is practically the same thing but the year models are wat make it different. The FJ i think is from 90-92 and the FZJ is 93-97? im not sure of the ending year model on the 80 series...
Like i said im not certain so dont quote me on this since my friend has a '96 FZJ80 and we've had this discussion after lots of searching but its been a while so cant remember for sure.

correct. the actual reason is that the engine code for the fj80 is 3f-e and the fjz80's engine code is 1fz-fe.

Exactly....
The 93-94s can be (but not always) what I consider a mutt because they are kind of an oddity in that they can share 91-92 features and 95-97 feautures as far as axles and suspension goes. But that is neither here nor there when discussing the fzj80 or fj80 as Steeze has already hit the nail on the head. I only mention that rarity because of the potential for the springs to be different between two different 93s & 94s for future reference.
