One of your folks, driffter33, joined a mountain biking forum that I frequent today. In posting up his intro, he asked if any of us were T4R.org folks. That led to a little back and forth with him and that led me here.

Welcome to the forum, Mt. Bikes plus 4runners is always a good combination. I'm also a member of pinkbike, though I don't frequent it as much as T4R.org. Hope your a 3rd gen guy!
 
Hey shudder good to see you made it over to another great forum. I'm sure you will find everyone here friendly, and helpful. There is an overload of info on this site for 3rd gen runners. Hope you find just what you are looking for!
 
We got one!

I've been through some wily times since I last posted to this intro thread (Craigslist can be, um... weird... to deal with). In the end, I found a dealer not too too far away from my location with an awesome black '97 Limited that was through the roof -- this truck is amazing inside and out. Just super clean! Carfax checked out real good, so I went and tested it out, and bought it on the spot yesterday afternoon. KBB lists it for $7,970, and I picked it up for $5,495. Righteous. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for everyone's guidance on what to look at and what to look for.
