Been a long time Toyota owner/driver 20+yrs. My wife recently was in an accident in our 99 sr5 4wd and now we're the proud owner of a 2014 sr5 4wd. Its MGM with black interior. We love it! But one thing for her, it has the factory running boards and they seem more in the way than useful. Its like they are too high to use comfortably. Does anyone know what style or brand that hang lower? TIA.

4th gen for me so sorry I can't help with the running board question specifically. When it comes to steps though and not sliders I would like to slap on a pair of fold ups, like Land Rovers Defenders sport.

Speaking practically however it seems that most any place that does sliders is often fielding customizing requests, whether mounting angle, kickout etc. Just look at the build threads here and you will see vendors and customizations. I would think if you give one of them a call they could rig something that would suit your needs. Paint em throw some spray on bedliner or something grippy on the top and you would be set.
