Hello everyone, I'm new to the 4runner scene. Don't even own one yet, tomorrow I'm going to check out one. The owner is the 2nd owner. It is an '06 SR5 4wd with 85k miles. He's asking $16,500 but it is already lifted with newer wheels and tires. Just curious if his price seemed about right, I know it books for closer to $15,500. But it seems with Toyotas they always have a good resale value.
Any advice would be appreciated

It could be a hit or miss, but the asking price is always their high number out the door (and no on ever pays asking price).

Is it a V6 or V8? If V8, then you will have to worry about the timing belt change coming up relatively soon (if it isn't already done). That can be pretty pricey if you aren't handy with a wrench.

Also, was the lift done right? If it's just something they slapped on for value or looks at the last second, that may cause problems in the future (ball joints, axles, bearings, tie rods etc.). Just stuff to think about and ask the owner.

Number one question: Why are they getting rid of it in the first place (since they are the 2nd owner, not the original, and such low mileage)?

As for pricing, just do your research, and go in informed. Ask questions, and don't be afraid to negotiate down to a price you are comfortable with, plus what you are willing to spend on necessary maintenance in the future. Most of all, don't be afraid to walk. There are deals going on everywhere.

We'll I ended up picking it up, it is a V6. Payed $16K. After seeing it in person I figured his price wasn't too off since it books for $15,500. He originally had it listed for $17,500 then dropped the price $1000 before I came to look at it. The lift is a Toytec kit that was professionally installed in April of tho year along with the wheels and tires. His mods alone are worth $3-3500. Tires are practically brand new.
While on the test drive my girlfriend stayed at their house with his wife and during their conversation she had mentioned that her husband does this on a regular basis. Buys a vehicle, throws money into it and sells it for something else once he gets bored with it.
