New to the t4r board , but definatly not new to the joy of offroading and the 4 runner /hilux surf.
As the title says I'm here in Yokohama Japan and have been for many years ,20 to be exact.
I was in the Navy here until 1991 then left service and just decided to stay :D I really dig the culture here it's cool.
By the way I call home Wisconsin when I'm stateside  .
heres a current pic of my rig she's a d/d so I can't get to radical with the modifications:p

Thanks for the comps,Right now it's factory Gunmetallic but I'm looking into doing it in woodland camo leaving the black and chrome where it's at. Basically giving me decent looks/one of a kind and I won't worry about brush scratches on trail runs and camping
Before I do though I have to check into base regs there real funny about that kinda thing sometimes.

Hey Daniel, nice looking 1st gen you got there  Be sure to check out the "Japan" sub-forum, located HERE. It's empty right now but it would be great to get some activity in there. I think there's a couple of other members living in Japan, I think Woodbert?? lives there.

Actually I am familiar with Woodbert from another forum but we've never met he's in Oki where as I'm main land kinda like the difference between Ore. state and Fla.
Actually I've noticed quite a few familiar names of folks from other forums I frequent
I will however be using the sub forum a little later as I know quite a few of our service members in my area are avid offroaders /4 runner drivers.
Out here the guy's usually end up with gen2's and like me a handful of gen 1's.
I will be submitting more shots of my rig and a friends under the gallery section over the next week or so.
Later
Daniel

Hey Daniel,

You should come vist!

Really, i wish there were more members from Japan and especially Okinawa.

Do you work at Yokosuka or somehwher else? I work at the NH here and I'm a retired Marine.

PM me if you want.

No can't say I'm familiar with either from what I can read (Japanese) and given body numbers looks like the one site is predominately gen2's.
The other has a pretty good mix 1's 2's and 3's.

That is odd. If you click the gallery link in the second link you get a ton of 4th gens with great mods. I posted a new thread so that everyone could easily access and discuss the gallery of 4th gen hilux's with mods. Click HERE to get to it.

Lux my bust didn't look very deep into the site I take it the la and ta are the gen 4's.
On the puter I'm using some sites are banned and some just won't show pix  I'll check it out later on another one.
Anyway I see in your sig that you're waiting for a reponse on a grille from Shuei.Did you order it ?I know where the shop is and been to it a coupla time's.
It's like a candy shop for big kids:D

yes, those are 4th gens. notice that the site has a big "#215" at the top which is the 4th gen. Also notice the model numbers, all of them have the "N215" in their body code. all of them are 4th gens.

The HSOC site has a mixture of 1st(N61), 2nd(N130), and 3rd(N185) gen surfs.

Hi Daniel,

I am in LA now, but did live in Hong Kong for past seven years and worked at the Japanese International School. Weird I never made it to Japan tho!

Any chance that if I sent you some cash you would be able to purchase for me a rear seat trash bag and post it to me? I would cover all the costs.

Thanks for the consideration either way.

Cheers
Mark

Save him the trouble and order it from Steve Ganz of Carson Toyota's part department. Everyone on here has had a great buying experience from them. I haven't received my parts yet, but they have been wonderful so far. I have no doubts. Oh, I ordered the same trash bag and I think it was only $39, which is the cheapest I've seen and probably not much more if any from what Daniel could get.

You lucky SOB! No, I haven't ordered it because I haven't heard from them in over a month. They emailed me twice or so and said they would sell to me, but I have sent them something like 5 emails since then with no response. In one of the emails he/she said they were on a Japanese "rest" so to be patient. I have been, but I am about to give up. I posted have posted about it and other grills HERE. If you get a chance, can you check out their site and let me know how much it is (if you can read Japanese?). That is my most important question, and they haven't gotten me an answer yet. Thanks man.

Edit: Sorry 04Runner if this sounds like I am telling you to not bother him, and now I am asking him a favor. That wasn't my intention. It will probably just be an easier route for you to take is all. There is another guy selling them who is actually a member, Jason B. He has a website burtmanindustries.com I think but they are more money. Member toybox has two and wants to sell one, so you might want to check with him. Especially if you want it soon. Carson Toyota has to order it from Japan and it takes a while.

Lux,
YES be patient with Shuei they (all) Japanese just finished the summer leave about a 1month long ordeal where you can never tell if anyones open or not...god help if your rig breaks in that time frame:eek:

04 definately try to get it in the U.S, I`m not blowin you off but things out here can run in the neighborhood of of double or triple what you can get it stateside.
Example the power window module for mine should be like $250 to $350 Stateside but out here almost $600 new.
Difference in economic systems it`s like living in an airport:awais:
