Hey Everyone, I'm Andrew and I just inherited my father's 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4X2 in Impulse Red Pearl.

It only has about 81xxx miles and I am ready to bring it back to its former glory. It was bought new in 2003 and we have had it since with absolutely no problems. It has seen better days cosmetic wise but I'm up for the challenge.
I still have and drive my old car a 2003 Nissan Frontier XE 4X2, but the T4R has become number one priority.

What I have done so far:
Deep Cleaned the Interior
Replaced a few dead dashlights
Sanded and Buffed the Headlights
Removed Sideboards
Removed Window VentShades
Replaced Cracked Windshield

Future Plans:
New Paint, this summer hopefully
Front and Rear Spacer Lift
FJ Coils
32" BFG A/T
Wheel Spacers, maybe
Paint Headlight Housings
Paint Wheels
06+ Taillights
That's all I can think of now

I want to paint the 4Runner soon before I do anything else because the hood and front fender clear coat is peeling off. I am split between painting the whole car Impulse Red Pearl cladding and everything or picking a different color like Satin Dark Grey or Satin Black because I have never been a fan of red. I know the Impulse Red Pearl with cladding T4R is pretty rare so I feel like it would be a disservice to paint the car a different color but I just hate red.

I would like to know your opinion on the paint. Keep the red or not?

i dis like red on most cars... (67 mustang in candy apple red is really the only exception) as well i to favor green, black, or gray (matte cause 4wd vehicles don't need shiny is shows the scratches more so)... for all intensive purposes once you paint the car it will lose resell value for not being the original paint...

Welcome from another Virginian! It's great how many members here are from this side of the country.

So many other forums I've participated in seemed to be filled with folks from the west coast (nothing wrong there, just hard when discussing shops etc...)

Congrats on the new 4Runner! Personally I'd keep the color. For one, your right it's a little more rare, second I'd think painting would be a bit easier and hence be cheaper and turn out better.

Maybe for now you could plasti-dip the hood and maybe even the fenders. Tonsssss of plasti-dip experiences here and seems to hold up pretty well.
