Hi Lift Size

I am wondering what people are running, I ordered the all cast Hi-Lift in the 48" height. I have been debating whether or not I should have gone with the 60" but I just could not justify needing one that tall. I plan on mounting it to the roll bar I installed in the back of the truck, or on the CBI bumper.

Any suggestions, or comments would be appreciated...

The 48" is fine. If you mount it on the CBI, a 60" will stick out really far and you'll probably snag it off road on trees,rocks, etc.. anyways. I can't imagine the 60" will fit inside very easily either. You made the right choice!

Haha, you're welcome! Here's a shot of my 48" Hi-Lift mounted on my CBI. You can see how a 60" would go about to the end of the taillights. I know I would snag it a lot and probably ruin the Hi-lift and the swing-away...

I do love that photo. In the past 9 months I have been staring at the photos on CBI's website in preparation for the purchase. I think I am pulling the trigger on it tomorrow.......While discussing, what are your thoughts on the swing away carrier? I have heard that they can cause the wings can rub the body with the extra weight. I do like the look, not in love with the price.

Thanks, I like that photo too. Actually I sent it to Nathan a long time ago and lost it, then it appeared on the CBI website and I got it back! :trophy:

My "wings" don't rub the body, but when I flex it out, it comes close. I remember COB saying that his flexes a lot too, but he doesn't have a swing-away. The frame itself flexes and so do the body mounts. I know J-money and Driffter's much lighter home-fabbed bumpers flex the same way so there's not much you can do about that. Don't let that stop you from putting a swing-away on it.

Building it yourself would net you the ultimate cost savings, which is what we did. If that is not an option, I would run your bumper wish list by a few local weld fab shops with experience in build bumpers. You'd be surprise what you'll find as well as the cost. It's not rocket science, just takes a skill craftsman. Most will have referrals that you can look at their work. If anything you'll save on the shipping alone going locally, hopefully it's going to be less than $1800 plus

stick it in the wheel so your not fighting the suspension travel. It works perfect unless your rocking super sweet solid aluminum wheels. That is if your in need of a little rock stack or something. If your changing a tire your best off to use the bottle jack

i dont have a bottle jack can you get your rear tires off with the highlift

not from my bumper back bumper, maybe from the back edge of the slider if i got the high lift almost topped out but i wouldnt trust that. I have had my high lift fall...


but i have a bottle jack and a jack stand that i leave in the truck, So i can use the "in the wheel" method then throw a jack stand under the axle. works like a charm! I got tired of changing cv's on the highlift so I always bring a 3 ton jock stand. It fit great in my tool bin.
