Agreed, the bug eye look is retarded.

The dual projectors with the chrome housing looks more factory than one big bug eye. There is a guy on E-Bay who sell's a projector housing that looks factory but you need to supply the guts (or the guts are crap & you replace with morimoto's cant remember) I'm pretty sure it was [MENTION=74071]Brilliant[/MENTION] that bought & modified them. Had a thread about them so look it up.

I agree with the others. Get good bulbs for the factory housings & add add some driving or fog lights like PIAA. I can see plenty at night. 4" PIAA's in the bumper & 6" on top.

Retarded is a bit strong, not nearly as much as running HID's incorrectly. Personally I think a proper set of retrofitted HID's look great.

You're right, as long as you like them that all that matters, it's your truck.

I have factory projectors in my Accord & they aren't the be all end all. Projectors with the sharp cut off suck for going uphill. I live in the hills & come home from work a midnight & have to put on my high beams to go uphill anyway.

I'd rather drive my 4runner at night with good halogen bulbs in the stock housing's & my 4" PIAA's than my Accord with projectors.

I say it all the time, the main reason our housings suck is the layer of dust that forms in the back on the reflector. My light output improved tremendously when I switched out the old housings with TYC's & better bulbs. Of course you want 99-02 glass as well.

Couldn't agree more. I like that my halogens don't have an extremely abrupt cut-off. I use the low beams more than my high-beams since it illuminates the road in front of me so well. My LED light bar I put a few years ago to substitute my awful high-beams really isn't even necessary anymore.

That being said, you can find a video on YouTube that The Retrofit Source made on comparing PnP HID kits, LED, halogen, and a proper projector in a Tundra housing. It's a great video, and the results would clearly surprise some guys here. The PnP HID performed surprisingly well, and the scatter wasn't bad at all.
