I have DDM's HIDs installed in my 4R and they've worked great for 9 months. Now with the cold, sometimes one or both would not fire with temps below about 20F. I verified this by warming one side ballast with heat gun, it came on and the other didnt.
DDM Customer Service told me to replace the 10A fuse for the headlight to 15A. Seemed odd but I did it and it seems to have solved the problem. Only thing I can think of was the smaller guage wire in the 10A had too much IR drop coupled with the added resistance of the cold.
Anyway, I am impressed that they had the solution.
I am an EE and it seems quite implausible, but it worked. Guess if a short happens, 10 or 15 will blow about the same time.....
Anyway, there it is if anyone else sees this issue.
BTW, I am real impressed with the product. Installed the 35W version with 5000K bulbs, drop in, plug & play. Cant beat the price.
