HID not shutting off using the headlight switch

How's it goin' guy's, sorry if this is the wrong section to put this..

Okay here's my situation, recently i've been having a little problem with my HID's not shutting off eventhough i already switched OFF my headlight switch, this happens mostly when i am using my foglights w/ my headlights... any of you guys experience anything like this with your HID's? Also sometimes when i start the truck my HID's would come on (with my headlight switch in the OFF position) pretty strange, i kept thinking that it might be my ground.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks
JAY

usually witha bad ground theyll just stop working all together, but i dont know for sure. so i say give it a shot and check your grounds. wouldnt hurt. another thing to check is the wires, make sure they're all still intact and ready to go. maybe one shorted and you didnt notice

That's what i figured, with bad ground it would just stop working or it wouldn't fire up but in my case it still does... i'll go ahead and check all the wires...

Thanks for the idea! :bigok:

By chance did you do the foglight mod? The mod either allows the fogs to run independently (without the low beams) or always on (with high beams or parking lights).

If you have that mod done, you might want to try and reverse the setup back to stock and see if the HID still stays on.

I haven't had any trouble with my Xenon Depot kit, other than the passenger side not firing up the very first time. I rechecked the wiring and made sure everything was plugged in snug and never had a problem since.

No i haven't done the foglight mod yet. It just started doing that about 2 weeks ago... oh and here is the weird part, when i switch OFF my foglights or if i don't use it with my headlights, there wouldn't be any problem turning my HID's on/off. Would you think that it has something to do with the foglights by any chance?

Does your HID conversion kit have a wiring harness that powers them directly from the battery and using a relay from the headlight harness?

If so, the relay could be bad, causing the circuit to remain closed instead of opening when you turn off your lights.

I do have the relay harness... hmmm.. never thought of checking that.. if it's bad, i can just purchase a relay at any automotive store right?

Okay, i got the chance to run to kragen real quick to buy a relay, took out the old one and replced it with the new one and so far so good... hopefully that takes care of the problem:(
