HID on SR5?

I searched through all the posts related to hid for our non projector housings and didn't see any conclusive info about whether it will blind people

i'm thinking about the XD extreme kit.. but i don't want the light cut off to be so bad that i blind everyone..

so what's the deal guys :(

I have the DDM tuning kit on my tundra, and am about to purchase one for my 4Runner, they are extremely cheap but seem to be of good quality. I'd check them out if you are looking for hids. They have a lifetime warranty as well.

Also make sure you aim the beams correctly after the install, thats the number 1 reason why HID's in no projector housings get a bad rap.
 
is there a thread or documentation on how to adjusted the aim of the headlight?

i assume you want aim it away from opposite traffic and down a bit
 
I have XD 6500k lows and 3k fogs. This has been covered quite a few times. I get flashed by a handful of people a month.
 
It's not about aim its about how the reflectors spread the light. Halogen and HID emit a very different "spread" of light and halogen headlights weren't made to spread or focus HID light. Therefore they don't spread it evenly and create "hotspots" or glare. This can be blinding to other motorists and in most places is illegal.
Most people aren't aware of this though and as long as they are still getting light out of their headlights don't care. Retrofitting HID lenses is the correct way to upgrade to HID headlights. These swap kits are a poor excuse (in both performance and price) and are a risk for getting pulled over and fined.
You spent over $30k on your vehicle. Why cheap out now?

where can i get light housing with projector lenses? i only found TE style black housing but still no projector

Ufortunately as far as I know it's a DIY project. However there are businesses online or in some cases forum members who are willing to retrofit some HID projectors for a fee...

WHY in 2011 it wasn't a factory option I don't know....

Member -JD- speaks the truth. Halogen reflectors were not designed for HID bulbs. Yeah, they'll look whiter/brighter but the light is not focused properly.

Last I knew, member adio3X had some for sale. As said, buying headlights for 3rd party retrofit is about it, unless you're a skilled DIY'er (check member harper7's builds).

It's expensive, but no regrets here, remarkable lighting.

BTW, be careful with eBay. Many broken, and/or repaired headlights there.
