HID questions

I am looking at doing the xenon depot H11 kit and was wondering if I need the canbus? I have a 2017 trd off-road, no auto lights. Also is it worth the extra money for the 4300k Phillips bulbs or are the 5000k just as good. I know the color will be slightly different just can't figure out why the 4300k is so much more. Thanks for any advice guys

From what I remember, I didn't need the canbus for the low beams. I thinks it's needed for the hi-beams so the DRLs don't flicker.

I can't say whats better but I'm happy with my 5000k bulbs.

You do not need the Canbus. It also comes with the relays but you do not need those either.

Compared one to another, 5000K is slightly whiter, or conversely 4300K is slightly yellower. 4300K however, yields more lumens.
Why the price difference ... who knows.

I buy 4300 because I use HID for better lighting, aka more lumens. I'm not concerned with how it looks.

i paid extra for the philips for the assumed quality advantage, and i like 4300k because i prefer warmer lights and they have more lumens.

if you are trying to match LED color you could get 5000k, but anything above that is way too blue.

Get the quality 4300K Phillips bulbs. They made a huge difference in my ability to see the road at night versus the stock headlights. The safety factor in that I can now see the road and the shoulders on the winding Colorado mountain roads are well worth the cost difference. The produce great light and color and easy to install. The 5000K and others are stock "Made in China" bulb sets whereas Xenon Depot builds the 4300K kit from OEM Philips bulbs. I also added the LED fogs and never need to use my "high" beams any more.

Also - ask for the T4R.org discount and you should get at least 20% off MSRP.

I called and we talked about the various lighting options (LED versus HID etc.) for my 4 Runner. At the end of the call, I mentioned that I learned about Xenon Depot on the T4R.org forum and they gave me the discount.

Thanks everyone for the feedback I ordered my xenon depot hid kit today with the Phillips 4300k. The bulbs are back ordered till the end of the month, I'm taking that as a sign that it was the right choice to go with. Can't wait to be able to see while driving at night

Double-check that your headlights are aimed properly as well. From ~25' away from a wall, the cutoff line of your headlights should be ~3-5" below the center of your headlight bulb. Mine, from the factory, were aimed 14" below--wayyyyy too low. I could see maybe 2 car lengths in front of me on a dark road.

I just installed the 5000K HID's and color matched LEDS and they look awesome. No canbus, but I did use the relay harness. Such a major difference.

Mine, from the factory, were aimed 14" below--wayyyyy too low. I could see maybe 2 car lengths in front of me on a dark road.

So do those numbers still apply for a 3 inch lift or do I need to go 6-8 below center headlight?

I think you'll want to decrease that number by the amount of your lift based on the diagram below otherwise you'll be throwing light way farther out and likely blinding everyone in front of you.

The rake will cause your headlights to point down more, so you'd probably want your headlight cutoff slightly higher than normal.
