HID Retrofit Lexus RX-AFS projectors

Well I finally did a retrofit with Lexus RX-AFS projectors on my 4Runner. I didn't take pics because it took waaaayy too long to do even without stopping to document it. Here's what I used:

RX-AFS Projectors with TSX-R lens
Denso slim ballasts
Philips 85122 D2S bulbs
Gatling Gun Shrouds
Extra pair of headlights
Relay Harness

I'll get some nighttime pics tonight and post them. I eliminated the squirrel finders by covering the holes with aluminum tape. I only have one problem though. The driver's side light is a little to the left and I tried to use the adjusting screws on the back of the headlight, but they're not moving it from side to side. I know I'm trying to adjust the right screw, so why wont it work!!! Anyways other than that, everything's great. Here's some pics!

Anybody got any ideas on adjusting the driver light? Since the screws don't work, I might just clamp it in the right position and JB Weld it

Looks good! I wish I had the balls to do that. I just don't understand how you attach everything in there. I don't have any info for you on the adjustment sorry. But cool retro!

Don't the adjustment screws actually move the projectors?


I would be inclined to think that you're missing a part, have some stripped gears in the mechanism, or things just aren't aligned right for the gears to contact each other.

Yeah I think I didn't adjust the projector enough horizontally when I mounted it and the adjusting screw is at the max. Tried to JB Weld it last night but it took too long to cure and it ran all to the bottom and ended up wasting all of it. Gonna try JB Stick or JB Quik today. Any pointers on how to speed up curing and drying time???

Can't help you there, usually when I try to accelerate things like that I end up with issues immediately or later on as a result.

My recommendation is to use as they direct. :thumb3:

Which do you think, JB Quik or JB Stick, would be the best solution? I have a good size gap (About .5"-1") all the way around. Time is the main concern though.

looking good and looks nearly identical to my retro. I never used JB weld in my set-up though. This summer I will be doing something more radikal like LS460 projectors.

I would have just stuck with silicon but these RX-AFS projectors don't have mounting screws so they jiggle when I hit bumps. These were pretty hard for a first time Retrofit. FYI I would go with projectors that have mounting holes to screw into the reflectors or make a bracket if it was my first retro... I took the hard route and I don't recommend it haha.

thats why I told you FX-R should be your choice. They just like TSX have 4 nice mounting holes. And silicon is going to fog up your headlight lenses, I used very little and it still did

I had no idea that silicon causes that or I would have skipped using it all together!!! I didn't read about that anywhere!?! I noticed a little fog in there today. Luckily my rear holes aren't sealed yet so I'm gonna put some silica gel packets in there to soak up all the moisture.

silicone fog is not caused by moisture, it is permanent stuff that is going to settle on your outter clear lenses as it cures from heat. Silica gel packs will do nothing! If you used a lot of silicone to hold your projectors in place you will have to open your lights and clean it

Once again, something that should have been brought to my attention YESTERDAY! It's cool. If they get worse, I'll open them back up and clean them. Right now there's only 2 or 3 small spots that aren't very noticeable.

Yes you are. I thought you were going to lead me down the right path. No no. Haha. The JB Stik is the greatest thing ever... ever. I hated JB Weld because it's runny and you have to wait so damn long for it to cure. JB Stik hardened in 5 min, no joke. And cured in 30 min. The lights are done!
