Hidden Alarm Carista or Techstream

I looked at the security settings on my ’19 ORP with my scan tool (Autel MS906BT) and the only thing I can do is toggle the alarm ON/OFF and glass breakage sensor ON/OFF. No other settings

Ayhooo… 4Runners also have a third horn that only honks when the alarm sounds. It’s mounted on the passenger side fender and hidden by the air filter box. It resonates off the air box and is way louder in the interior than the regular horns are. Sorta clever of Toyota.

i just did this.. i got honking and blinking lights :bravo: i guess i have an alarm. but i always thought all 5th gens had this. i just never checked.

I did this on my 2019 TRD ORP and nothing happened. So I don't think all 5th Gen have it, unless I need to activate it with Carista ?

Try this:
1. Roll down the driver side window.
2. Get out and lock the car with the key fob.
3. Wait for the alarm to arm itself (light on dash will start blinking)
4. Reach through the window and open the door.

Well it worked this time , guess I didn’t wait long enough or I locked with the actual door lock button .

Update: so I guess I didn't wait long enough as specified in bold above. The alarm does indeed work now on a 2020 SR5P

Well I guess I'm the derp because I paid for the Karr system but I don't have alarm options with my 2019 TRD Offroad Premium. I know none of the 2nd gen Tacomas had alarms so I thought the Runners were the same. :redbrick:

I'm fairly certain that most, if not all modern cars have this type of alarm.
